PSG move ahead of Juventus with €33m bid for Parma’s Suzuki | OneFootball

Paris Saint-Germain have moved to steal a march on Juventus in the race for Parma goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, tabling a formal offer for the Japan international.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the French champions have lodged an official €33m bid with Parma for the Japanese goalkeeper, a proposal that, per transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, edges them ahead of Juventus, who had been working through their own shortlist of goalkeeping targets.

PSG jump ahead of Juventus in Suzuki race

Suzuki, born in New York and now first choice for Japan, has established himself as one of Serie A’s brighter goalkeeping talents since joining Parma, with 57 top-flight appearances and 28 international caps to his name.

He is under contract at the Stadio Tardini until 2029, and Parma had been braced for offers in the region of €30m.

The Parisian interest carries a slight puzzle, given Matvey Safonov’s standing as PSG’s established number one and the club’s heavy outlay on Lucas Chevalier only last summer.

Earlier reports suggested the Ligue 1 side could even sign Suzuki and loan him straight back out to guarantee him regular football. For Juventus, the immediate worry is that a target they had hoped to land now risks slipping away with little warning.
