Paris Saint-Germain’s negotiations to sign Bournemouth defender Illya Zabarnyi remain active, with the two clubs yet to finalise terms on the finer details of the transfer.

While an agreement on an initial fee of £52m is believed to be in place, the Cherries continue to hold firm on a total package worth up to €70m (£59m).

The south coast club are under no pressure to sell, having already brought in £40m from the sale of left-back Milos Kerkez to Liverpool earlier this summer.

Zabarnyi, 21, remains with the Bournemouth squad in Chicago as they gear up for the Premier League Summer Series — a key component of their pre-season preparations. Despite the uncertainty over his future, the Ukrainian international continues to train with the Cherries as they prepare for the forthcoming campaign.

PSG, who reached the Club World Cup final earlier this summer, are not expected to reconvene for pre-season training until 4 August, which could give both sides additional time to reach a full agreement.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, have already begun exploring replacements for Zabarnyi. Their £26m bid for Lille’s Bafodé Diakité was recently rejected, with the Ligue 1 side holding out for £35m— a figure the Premier League club currently deem too high.

With the transfer window still open and Zabarnyi seen as a long-term defensive solution by PSG, discussions are expected to continue into August.
