Pedro Fernández Sarmiento, known as Dro, has joined PSG after arriving in Paris on Sunday, passing his medical on Monday and seeing the move confirmed on Tuesday. A negotiated fee a little above eight million euros avoided triggering the six million release clause.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, cordial relations between Joan Laporta and Al Khelaifi enabled an amicable exit that spared tax liabilities for PSG and the player, with Barcelona receiving slightly more. The 18-year-old signs until 2030 on a markedly improved salary.

Represented by Iván de la Peña, a close friend of Luis Enrique from their Roma days, Dro’s switch was shaped by that connection. Hansi Flick and the sporting department rated him highly, and the coach’s anger at his decision to leave was stronger than publicly seen.

Laporta voiced the club’s disappointment on Catalunya Ràdio on Sunday, calling the situation unpleasant. He said Barcelona had a different plan for Dro once he turned 18, but the agent later told them it could not be fulfilled.

Promoted straight from Juvenil B, Dro went on the summer Asia tour and scored on debut against Vissel Kobe in Japan. He has played 148 minutes across five matches, four in LaLiga and one in the Champions League.

He did not feature in the Copa tie at Guadalajara, and after returning from Saudi Arabia he informed the club of his wish to leave without disclosing the destination. He trained alone in recent days before sealing the move.
