The Champions League finalists have been confirmed with perhaps two of the most unlikely contenders in Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan. Both sides have pulled off a series of giant killings that have seen them secure their place in the showpiece at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Saturday 31st May at 8pm (UK time). This is only PSG’s second Champions League final, while Inter have won the competition three times and are in their seventh final. The game will be broadcast live on TNT Sports 1.

Both teams to score (3/4 with Betfair)

PSG have really impressed going forward in this season’s Champions League. The French side have scored 33 goals in their 16 games this season, the second-most in the competition. But they have also conceded 15 goals, and Inter Milan netted seven across their two-legged semi-final against Barcelona.

Inter Milan to win (23/10 with Sky Bet)

Inter Milan side go into the clash as slight underdogs despite their superior record in this competition as three-time champions – their last triumph coming in 2009-10. They also reached the 2022-23 final, losing 1-0 to Manchester City.

How both teams go into PSG vs Inter Milan

PSG are desperate to win their first ever Champions League, which would be the club’s crowning achievement since being taken over by Qatar Sports Investments in 2011. Their only previous final appearance came in a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich in the 2019-20 season — with no fans present inside the ground. Their chances of making this year’s final were expected to be low after losing Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid, having also let go of Neymar and Lionel Messi the year before. But Luis Enrique’s men have rallied without those three key players, after a disappointing initial group stage. They won four, drew one and lost three of their first eight matches and had to go through the play-offs – before hammering Brest 10-0 on aggregate. From there on, they have put on some impressive displays, first knocking out Premier League champions Liverpool before seeing off Aston Villa and then Arsenal in the semi-finals.

Inter Milan have quietly gone about their business in the Champions League this season, not blowing teams away, but putting in a series of consistent displays. Their won four of their first five games without conceding a goal and finished fourth in the group. They then saw off Feyenoord in the last-16 before edging Bayern Munich in the quarters. A huge task was put before them against Barcelona in the semis but they pipped them to the final after two dramatic ties — including a last minute winner in extra time to win 4-3 in the second leg.

PSG team news

Ousmane Dembele was not fit enough to start PSG’s second leg victory over Arsenal this week after picking up a hamstring strain in the first tie. But he was brought on as a substitute and should be fine to play in the final.

Inter Milan team news

Inter came through their gruelling semi-final tie against Barcelona unscathed after extra-time but there are still question marks over defender Benjamin Pavard. The Frenchman missed both legs of the semi-final after spraining his ankle against Roma at the beginning of May.

PSG vs Inter Milan head to head

PSG and Inter Milan have surprisingly never played against each other competitively.
