After an incredible journey, it's almost time for the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League final. PSG vs. Inter awaits, with the match scheduled to kick off at 21:00 CEST on Saturday 31 May in Munich.
Inter progressed to the final after overcoming Barcelona over two legs: after the 3-3 draw in Catalonia, there was the legendary 4-3 victory at San Siro. It will be the Nerazzurri’s seventh UEFA Champions League final in their history (three triumphs). Paris Saint-Germain, meanwhile, overcame Arsenal in the semi-finals after winning 1-0 in London and 2-1 in Paris (goals from Fabian Ruiz and Hakimi). It will be the French side’s second-ever final in Europe’s premier competition after their defeat to Bayern Munich in 2020.
For the final in Munich, Inter will be the designated away team. This stems from the UEFA draw held in previous months, which determined the entire bracket all the way to the final.
Inter have had nine different scorers in the Champions League this season. Leading the way is captain Lautaro with nine goals, making him Inter’s all-time top scorer in the competition. Behind him are Thuram and Calhanoglu with four goals each, while Frattesi and Dumfries have chipped in with two apiece – all crucial finishes. Acerbi, Pavard, Arnautovic and Taremi have all scored once.
Inter and PSG will face off in the Champions League final, and it will be the first official match between the two clubs. Indeed, the Nerazzurri and Parisians have met six times before, but always in summer tournaments or friendlies.
PSG are back in the UEFA Champions League final five years on from their defeat to Bayern Munich. Their coach, Luis Enrique, won the trophy in his first season in charge of Barcelona in 2014/15. The French side tend to play in a 4-3-3 formation with a variable front three whose biggest goal threat is Dembélé (33 goals in 2024/25). Kvaratskhelia, Doué and Barcola all pose a real threat, as do Hakimi and Mendes down the flanks. Luis Enrique has found his ideal playmaker in Vitinha, who, thanks to a mix of technique, vision and passing ability, manages the team's tempo. The Spanish coach prefers building from the back, starting from Donnarumma. The central defenders Marquinhos and Pacho often push the team forward, with the Ecuadorian being PSG's most-used player this season (4013 minutes on the pitch).

Completed on 30 April 2005, the Munich Football Arena is located on Werner-Heisenberg-Allee and is owned by Bayern München. It hosted four matches during UEFA EURO 2020 and, having also been a venue for UEFA EURO 2024, it became the first stadium in history to host matches in two consecutive editions of the UEFA European Championship. Its capacity for that tournament was 66,000 seats.
If the score is level at the end of regular time, two 15-minute periods of extra time will be played. If the score remains level after extra time, the winner will be decided by a penalty shootout.
Legendary rock band LINKIN PARK will be on stage before the most anticipated challenge of the season. To mark the occasion, the group has composed and recorded a new remix - which blends its iconic riffs with the sights and sounds of the UEFA Champions League - that will be launched before the world's most-watched annual football event, in what is sure to be an unforgettable night for football and music.
The UEFA Referees Committee has appointed Romania's István Kovács to referee the match. The 40-year-old, an international referee since 2010, will be officiating his third UEFA club competition final after his appointment as the referee for the 2024 UEFA Europa League final in Dublin, Republic of Ireland, between Atalanta and Leverkusen, and the 2022 UEFA Conference League final between Roma and Feyenoord in Tirana, Albania. He has refereed seven Champions League matches this season, including the round of 16 second leg between Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain.
Referee: István Kovács (Romania) Assistants: Mihai Marica and Ferencz Tunyogi (both from Romania) Fourth Official: Joao Pedro Silva Pinheiro (Portugal) Reserve AR: Bruno Miguel Alves Jesus (Portugal) VAR: Dennis Johan Higler (Netherlands) VAR assistant: Catalin Sorin Popa (Romania) VAR Support: Paulus van Boekel (Netherlands)
Inter have already had the same refereeing trio – Kovács with assistants Marica and Tunyogi – in the Champions League this season, specifically in their match against Arsenal on 6 November 2024 (decided by Hakan Calhanoglu's goal). Before this, Kovács also took charge of Inter 1-0 Atletico Madrid on 20 February 2024 (Champions League round of 16 first leg, Arnautovic with the winner) and Shakhtar Donetsk 0-0 Inter on 28 September 2021.
The Champions League final, which will see Inter face PSG, will kick off at 21:00 CEST on Saturday 31 May. In Italy, the match will be broadcast exclusively on Sky and NOW and will also be available for streaming on Sky Go and NOW TV.
The match will also be broadcast free-to-air, in accordance with AgCom regulations, which state that if an Italian team is involved in the Champions League final, the game must be broadcast on free-to-air TV as it is considered an event of national interest.
The Champions League final is back in Munich for the first time since 2012, when Chelsea defeated Bayern on penalties. This will be the second European Cup/UEFA Champions League final between an Italian and French team, following Marseille's 1-0 win against AC Milan in 1993, the only occasion in which a French side have won the trophy (the final was played in Munich). The only time Inter have faced a team from France in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages was when they played Marseille in the round of 16 in 2011/12.
