There has been plenty of lobbying for Ousmane Dembélé (28) to win the Ballon d’Or. Paris Saint-Germain captain led a “Ousmane, Ballon d’Or” chant on the streets of Paris following the club’s UEFA Champions League triumph. He is one of many teammates who believe the Frenchman is worthy of winning the highly coveted individual accolade.
In 2025, the France international forward scored 33 goals and registered 15 assists in 49 appearances across all competitions. Beyond the individual performances, there have been collective prizes. PSG have done a clean sweep this year, winning the Trophée des Champions, Champions League, Ligue 1, and Coupe de France.
Speaking to DAZN, PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has taken the lobbying a step further. “Ousmane’s season is magnificent. There is no doubt that he won’t win the Ballon d’Or. If he doesn’t win it, there is a problem with the Ballon d’Or. He has done everything,” said Al-Khelaifi.
Before the Ballon d’Or ceremony in September, Dembélé will be hoping to add another trophy, the FIFA Club World Cup. PSG face Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the competition later today. Speaking ahead of that game, the former Barcelona forward admitted that winning the Ballon d’Or was on his mind.
“I’m thinking about [the Ballon d’Or]. I know that, with the season that I have had, I am not far [from the Ballon d’Or], but I am focused on the objectives, before thinking about myself,” he told DAZN.
