Ivan Perisic spent seven years at San Siro between 2015 and 2022.

However, he joined Bayern Munich on a season-long loan in 2019/20, two years before leaving the club permanently.

Indeed, the 36-year-old left Serie A to sign for Tottenham Hotspur, where he spent two years.

During his seven years in Italy, Perisic collected 254 appearances for the Nerazzurri, racking up 55 goals and 50 assists.

Furthermore, he won the Scudetto in his penultimate season at San Siro under Antonio Conte.

In addition, he was part of the team that won the Supercoppa Italiana and Coppa Italia titles in 2021 and 2022.

Since leaving Inter, he played for Tottenham and Hajduk Split before moving to PSV in 2024.

Asked whether he is an Inter Milan fan, Perisic replied: “Absolutely yes. I attended Inter-Udinese at San Siro.

“And it’s not the first time I’ve supported the Nerazzurri in the stands since I no longer play in Milan.

“Normally, I don’t stay attached to a single club for so long. In my career, I’ve changed teams several times.

“But honestly, Inter and the Inter fans are and will always be a piece of my heart.”

Moreover, he still feels the fans’ affection.

“Yes, and I reciprocate.”

Perisic also admitted that joining Inter in 2015 changed his life.

“Yes, when Inter signed me from Wolfsburg, there were many strong individuals, but we weren’t a team.

“Then, thanks to hard work, the club, the arrival of Marotta, Spalletti, Conte, and Inzaghi, Inter became stronger and stronger.

“Today, they have returned to the place they deserve.

“I felt good and gave everything for the shirt, as always.

“As I said, we were a team; everyone ran for each other, it was a ‘we,’ not an ‘I.’ And the results on the field showed it. And I’m proud of that.”

“The truth is that when you face certain teams, you want to give even more than your best,” Perisic continued. “You feel something inside; you want to give yourself and the fans an important joy.

“Also, when I joined Inter, Juventus was the strongest in Italy. When I left, even though we hadn’t won the Scudetto, we had brought Inter back to competing for major titles.

“The brace against Juventus in the national cup final was amazing.

“However, I was also happy to score against them with PSV, where I am now happy and doing very well, even in the last Champions League edition.”

Furthermore, Perisic sees Inter as a ‘great team’ and hopes to face them in the Champions League this season.

“They’re a great team. I hope they can win as many trophies as possible.

“As I said, today I’m an Inter fan again.

“On one hand, yes, because it would mean both of us, at least, qualified for the round of 16, but on the other hand, it would be a very tough tie…

“Let’s say the ideal scenario would be to meet as late as possible in the competition.”

Finally, he admitted he would love to come back one day.

“Maybe one day as a coach. Inter was an important part of my life. But today I want to win as much as possible with PSV.”

“An outstanding young man and a very strong player. Inter did well to sign him.

“He can play anywhere in midfield and even in defense, in my opinion.”
