According to Globo.com, Puma and Piton received the lowest marks as Vasco assessed their Campeonato Carioca outing against Madureira.
Nuno Moreira won a penalty in the opening stages, but Puma took the kick and saw it saved, with Brenner unable to put away the rebound. Léo Jardim later produced a smart stop from a first-half header after a Madureira corner.
Johan Rojas was Vasco’s most inventive presence, offering passing angles, striking the crossbar and sending Puma through for a clear chance before fading after the interval. Andrés Gómez carried the main threat on either flank, though combinations often broke down.
Robert Renan found it hard to cover the left when Lucas Piton pushed on and was replaced at half-time for workload management. Hugo Moura filled in at centre-back and tightened the cover on that side, while Carlos Cuesta took an avoidable booking and missed a late opening.
Tchê Tchê was subdued and Barros kept it simple in midfield. Adson brought energy without end product, and substitutes David and Marino Hinestroza injected thrust, with David twice going close as Hinestroza occasionally overran the ball.
Head coach Fernando Diniz kept many regulars with Chapecoense ahead. His side had much of the ball, missed a penalty and too often lacked the creativity to break Madureira’s block.
