Pundit “impressed” with Chelsea midfielder – but he’s been dribbled past 7 times | OneFootball

Moises Caicedo scored a superb goal for Chelsea on Saturday night and was everywhere as the Blues beat Liverpool.

But he’s got plenty of praise, from everyone including us. Who else did well? On the Rest is Football podcast, Micah Richards wanted to talk about another one of our midfield engines who did well against the Reds.

“But it’s not just Caicedo. I’ve been impressed with Enzo Fernandez. The way he’s making runs into the box, he always seems to be there. He’s a World Cup winner, Enzo.”

“But I mean, he’s got such confidence because there was a little bit debate. People didn’t know quite what he was. Is he a holder? Is he a number eight? Is he a number 10? But he’s he’s got a little bit of everything with real quality. And he’s a leader as well.”

Stats show improving Enzo has more to give

A look at Enzo’s season stats so far is interesting. 4 G/A in 7 starts is great going, without doubt, but is the rest of his game living up to it?

His expected assists are in the 78th percentile, his successful passes in the 90th, his touches in the 93rd. His tackles and duels won are both above the 75th percentile. That’s all good stuff.

However after being dribbled past 7 times, the 13th percentile, it’s also pretty clear what he needs to improve. His 23 recoveries also put him only mid-table in that stat – get that a little higher and we’ll be talking about him in the same breath as Caicedo more often.
