FLW's Rangers Fan Pundit shares his thoughts on Josh Key potentially moving to West London
Queens Park Rangers, Preston North End and Portsmouth have all joined a transfer chase for the same Swansea City player this summer.
As FLW exclusively revealed, Swans’ right‑back Josh Key has now attracted interest from the other said Championship clubs as he enters the final year of his deal in Wales.
The 26-year-old has been a consistent presence at the Swansea.com Stadium since joining from Exeter City in 2023, making 112 appearances for the club and contributing five goals and eight assists along the way.
And for one key reason, QPR have been backed to come out on top in the race for his signature.

FLW’s QPR Fan Pundit, Louis Moir, revealed his thoughts on the aforementioned report linking his club to Key.
"You could argue we could aim higher than Josh Key but, again it’s a name that I’m actually quite pleased to see we’re linked with, because it’s another player who’s played quite a few games in this league and knows what it’s about.
"You know, he’s not a bad player, he’s alright, but we’re needing bodies at right-back.
"Realistically, we’re probably just going to sign one because obviously, we’ve got Mbengue, Dunne, who can cover there and played there a lot for us.
Rangers did perhaps attempt to address the problem last summer when they signed Kealey Adamson from Macarthur FC, but the young Australian has barely featured - starting just one Championship game and making seven substitute appearances.
Moir then added, "A lot of our signings tend to be from abroad, and it takes a bit of time to settle into the league and you see the best of them once they’ve settled in and that could take sometimes even a full season.
Key originally signed a three‑year deal at Swansea, and the Swans have since used their option to extend it to 2027. So, any deal would highly likely involve some sort of fee.
However, there is also another aspect to this deal, as QPR have separately been linked with French right-back Nolan Galves of Rodez AF.

According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Rangers have shown interest in Galves, though Millwall have moved more quickly and already submitted an offer, with Rodez understood to be asking around €1m (£860k) for his services.
Galves registered seven assists from right‑back in Ligue 2 last season, establishing himself as an attack‑minded full‑back with real quality.
The question is whether he could adapt quickly to the Championship, which ties directly into Moir’s point about overseas signings often needing time to settle.
As Moir also believes QPR only need to bring in one right‑back this summer, it feels unlikely Julien Stéphan will look to sign two, especially with Mbengue and Dunne also capable of covering the position.
On the reported Key interest, Moir concluded by saying, "If we were to sign someone like this, he knows the league, adds a bit of depth, going forward he’s not too bad.
"I think it would add competition because Mbengue, overall he did okay, but he’s a centre half really, Dunne’s a centre half - we don’t technically have a right-back.
"He could come in and potentially make that position his own."
With QPR also linked with a free move for former Coventry midfielder Jamie Allen, another FLW exclusive, their summer business looks to be gathering pace.
