QPR are reportedly eyeing a move for former Leeds, Rangers, and Arsenal midfielder Glen Kamara, as Julien Stephan looks to bolster his options.

QPR will be looking to hit the ground running in the 2026/27 Championship campaign, after what was a disappointing conclusion to last year's campaign.

The Hoops will be preparing for their 12th consecutive season in the second-tier, and so there is some expectation on them to head in the right direction this term.

They've started pre-season strongly, and are unbeaten in all three of their friendlies, with the most recent being a 1-0 win over League One side, Wycombe Wanderers.

QPR's owners haven't been shy in backing Julien Stéphan in the summer transfer window, with the Hoops boss already adding four signings to his squad for the upcoming Championship season.

Pierce Charles arrievd on loan from Manchester City, Calum Ward from Scottish side Motherwell, whilst Boy Kemper and former Chelsea and Brighton defender, Tariq Lamptey signed on free transfers.

The club's supporters will undoubtedly be pleased to see new signings added early on into the summer transfer window, as it gives them time to work with Stephan and his plans heading into the league fixtures.

It doesn't seem as though the QPR boss is done with summer signings though, as they're reportedly targeting a move for a former Arsenal, Leeds, and Rangers man.

It's recently been reported by the Daily Record that QPR are interested in a deal to sign Glen Kamara and have held talks - Kamara is currently playing his football for French side, Rennes.

Kamara has been playing in the French top-flight with Rennes since 2024, and has previously been on the books with Leeds United whilst they were in the Championship in the 2023/24 season, as they narrowly missed out on promotion into the Premier League after a defeat to Southampton in the play-off final.

The midfielder spent four years with Scottish giants Rangers as well, where he featured regularly for them, both in the Scottish Premiership, and in European competitions such as the UEFA Champions League. He also spent the early stages of his professional career with Arsenal, making one League Cup appearance for them, before leaving in favour of a move to Dundee.

Kamara has two years remaining on his contract with Rennes, and reportedly could be returning to English football if a move progresses with QPR.

Stephan could benefit from bolstering his midfield options

Julien Stephan could certainly benefit from adding some central midfielders to his squad before the new Championship campaign gets underway, and Kamara is exactly the type of player that they should be targeting.

He has plenty of experience under his belt, and knows what's required to perform to a high standard in English football, and so there wouldn't be risk attached to any potential agreement.

QPR have the likes of Nicolas Madsen, Jonathan Varane, Elijah Dixon-Bonner, and Kieran Morgan available to them in a similar position, but Kamara would be highly likely to go straight into the starting XI if he arrived this summer.

At the age of 30, he's still got plenty to offer, and the Hoops would be making a smart signing if they can strike an agreement with Rennes for his services.

QPR are set to get their 2026/27 Championship campaign underway against Portsmouth on Saturday 15th August, in what should be a closely-fought battle between both teams at Fratton Park on the opening weekend.
