The Hoops could be set to add a new left-back to their ranks for next season

Despite some encouraging recent results in the Championship, QPR's 2025-26 season appears to be over, with only pride really at stake with four games to go.

The Hoops went into the campaign with a fresh identity, having hired French coach Julien Stéphan as their new manager, following on from the reign of Leicester-bound Martí Cifuentes, and some exciting new players arrived at Loftus Road too, such as Richard Kone and Kwame Poku.

Their season though has been inconsistent to say the very least, with some positive spells and some low moments too, which included an early 7-1 drubbing at the hands of Coventry City and a four-game losing streak in February and March which saw them concede 12 times without reply.

Unbeaten in five matches though and sitting in 11th position heading into the final stretch of fixtures, there will be some confidence heading into the summer period as Stéphan looks to add the remaining bits of the puzzle to his R's squad - and it looks as though the club are trying to get business underway early.

QPR enter talks to sign Dutch left-back Boy Kemper

As per a report from Dutch publication Voetbal International, QPR are showing a 'serious interest' in landing NAC Breda captain Boy Kemper on a free transfer this coming summer.

It is claimed that the 26-year-old left-back decided in the winter that he was going to explore his options ahead of his contract expiring, and that the west London outfit have already begun talks with his camp to try and strike a bargain £0 deal.

QPR face competition though to land Kemper's services, with unnamed clubs in the Netherlands and overseas taking interest in a player that spent four years in the Ajax youth system before moving on to ADO Den Haag in 2020 and then NAC Breda in 2023.

Kemper has appeared 29 times in Netherlands' top division - the Eredivisie - this season for relegation-threatened NAC Breda, scoring three times from his defensive position and notching four assists, with his time at the club seemingly coming to an end shortly.

Boy Kemper talks could mean QPR are planning for life after Rhys Norrington-Davies

With QPR clearly seeking reinforcements in the left-back area, it could be a hint towards Rhys Norrington-Davies' future after his loan spell from Sheffield United ends.

The Saudi-born Wales international has been pretty much a regular for Stéphan in that left-back role at Loftus Road, and it wouldn't have been a surprise to see the club pursue a permanent move for the 26-year-old.

However, the fact they're pursuing a player of the same age suggests there could be plans after Norrington-Davies - that or they still plan to sign him from the Blades, and perhaps loan Brazilian youngster Esquerdinha out instead.

The 20-year-old has appeared 16 times in the Championship, but perhaps could benefit from a regular stint of games somewhere in 2026-27 to aid his development - leaving a permanently-signed Norrington-Davies, as well as an addition like Kemper to fight it out for a starting spot.
