According to L'Équipe, Marseille have reached an agreement with Feyenoord midfielder Quinten Timber, who is out of contract in June, while talks continue with SCO for Himad Abdelli, who wants to join OM.

Timber has fallen out with coach Robin Van Persie. At the weekend he signalled his wish to leave. Van Persie said a swift transfer would resolve his future, allowing Feyenoord to avoid a free exit after paying more than €7.5m to Utrecht in 2022.

Timber, twin brother of Arsenal right-back Jurriën, has won eight caps since 2024. A knee injury ruled him out of almost all of last season’s run-in, and he has been less prominent this term in a more advanced role.

It has also been harder to shine in a side under strain, with Feyenoord second in the league, 16 points behind PSV Eindhoven. After Sunday’s 3-4 home loss to Sparta Rotterdam, Van Persie criticised his training commitment, underlining the rupture.

Brian Priske, Feyenoord coach from June 2024 to February 2025 and now at Sparta Prague, made Timber captain and sees him as a modern box-to-box midfielder, versatile, disciplined and a powerful ball-carrier with end product.

Marseille hope to beat rival interest and finalise an agreement with Feyenoord in the coming hours. The clubs worked together last summer on winger Igor Paixao, and the Timber move would not affect OM’s pursuit of Abdelli.
