Adrien Rabiot is ‘very happy’ to be at Milan and believes Max Allegri’s ‘mentality’ is starting to take effect at the club, as both look forward to facing Juventus.
The France international was a late arrival on deadline day from Olympique Marseille, so waited until today to greet the supporters at the club’s flagship store in Via Dante, where he was mobbed by celebrating fans.

“I am happy because everyone gave me such a good welcome, from my teammates to the staff and the fans. It’s all positive so far,” Rabiot told MilanNews.
He had several different options after being frozen out of Marseille for a locker room brawl with then-teammate Jonathan Rowe, but opted for Milan also because it allowed a reunion with his former Juventus coach Allegri.
“He is a strong coach and there are quality players here, so we’ve got to just keep working. I can already see a quality Milan side eager to work, with young talent and more experienced figures who can help them along the way.
“I know the coach and his staff well, I know their mentality, and I think the players are starting to learn it, which we can see on the field. I have in me this desire to win and keep clean sheets, but obviously I am not alone in that.
“I am very happy to be here and I think you can see it in my performances. I want to do my best and make these fans happy.”

Does Rabiot feel that Allegri can build something important at Milan?
“Yes, because this is what the coach excels at, creating a unit and having everyone feel involved. This is an important element when constructing a team that wants to win. I am honestly surprised in a positive way at how quickly that has happened, as the team changed quite a lot, but is doing very well. I hope it is the start of something big.”

The first big test of the season is coming up with reigning Champions of Italy Napoli, then after that it will be a reunion for Rabiot and Allegri with Juventus.
“I wouldn’t say this is a Scudetto test, as there is such a long way to go this season, but we can test ourselves and see how far we’ve come. Obviously, the game with Juventus is not like the others, but I am a Milan player and want to win every match.
“Apart from that, I wish Juventus the best, because there are good people there who helped me a lot and I have fond memories of my five years there.”
