Racing have backtracked, confirming there is no delay in Grêmio’s payments for Nardoni, treasurer Diego Cifarelli said the Brazilians are up to date.

He said all sums due under the contract so far have been settled and there are no outstanding amounts. He described Grêmio as a friendly, exemplary institution and reported no issues between the clubs.

Grêmio acknowledge they were a few days late in making a transfer, but said the due amounts were cleared a little over 10 days ago. An internal taskforce is working to bring previous pending negotiations up to date.

The deal, agreed in early February, is worth US$ eight million in instalments, with a further US$ two million payable if Nardoni meets agreed targets.

The Argentine midfielder will start against Red Bull Bragantino on Thursday at the Arena in the Brasileirão.
