Spanish football was hit by another racist incident. A fourth-tier match between Salamanca and Deportivo Fabril was briefly halted on Sunday.

L'Équipe reports that a section of the crowd identifiable as home supporters sang a line declaring that those who do not jump are Muslim, a chant already at the centre of controversy during Spain’s 31 March friendly with Egypt, which finished 0-0.

The referee implemented the anti-racism protocol, stopping play around the 36th minute for roughly two minutes.

Stadium announcements warned that a repeat would force the match to be abandoned.

The game resumed without further interruption and finished 0-1.
