Tottenham Hotspur defender Radu Dragusin is back in training after eight months on the sidelines following an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury.

The Spurs centre-back missed most of the second half of last season after injuring the ACL in his right knee as Tottenham beat Elfsborg in the Europa League in late January.

The 23-year-old is now on the road to recovery, with the Spurs’ special media team showing the Romanian being put through the paces as he bids to recover.

Dragusin’s absence impacted Tottenham, especially with Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero also picking up serious knocks.

Former Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou had to turn to midfielder Archie Gray to help bolster the numbers at the back.

They have since strengthened the defence, signing Kevin Danso and Kota Takai. Luka Vuskovic is also on loan with Hamburg.

Dragusin, who earns £85,000 per week, is not ready to play in the Premier League, but his impending return is excellent news for the club.

Spurs boss Thomas Frank will continue with his trusted pairing of Romero and Van de Ven, while Dragusin gets up to speed.

Dragusin’s long lay-off means he needs competitive game time rather than simply training-ground sharpness.

A loan spell would allow him to regain rhythm without the pressure of performing at Premier League intensity straight away.
