Ramazani and Gelhardt exits could net around £11m for Leeds’ next move | OneFootball

Leeds United are set to move on Largie Ramazani and Joe Gelhardt this summer, exits that could open room to spend under Squad Cost Ratio rules. If Ramazani is sold, the pair could bring in around £11m, roughly matching what Leeds paid for them.

According to Leeds Live, Leeds expect to make a profit on Gelhardt, who has one year left after a 14-goal loan at Hull City that ended in play-off promotion. He was left off last summer’s pre-season tour and was not taken to the US this year. It is unclear if Hull return for him, with cash likely prioritised on more accomplished top-flight options, but any fee should exceed the £1m paid to Wigan in 2020.

Ramazani spent last season on loan at Valencia and this week wiped his Instagram photos and bio. His prospects dimmed last August when he was dropped from matchday squads after Noah Okafor’s arrival. Leeds are unlikely to make a profit, though a sale is likely to top his £5m book value after a £10m move in 2024 on a four-year deal.

The bigger prize is flexibility. Beyond a number 10, Leeds want cover at left-back and striker, plus a goalkeeper if Lucas Perri leaves. Trimming players with limited futures, Ramazani and Gelhardt among them, is the simplest way to manoeuvre funds.

Hard calls have defined Daniel Farke’s tenure. More than a year ago he told Patrick Bamford he was not in his Premier League plans, and the striker, who looks back fondly overall, has called the ending sour. Bamford’s contract was later ended out of goodwill.

Other departures have advanced. Jack Harrison has joined New England Revolution, Isaac Schmidt has signed for Young Boys, and Max Wober’s deal was mutually terminated due to clauses that made a low sale uneconomical, he has since joined Schalke. The club are not planning further contract terminations.
