Ramires backs Chelsea midfielder to become ‘key’ player | OneFootball

Former Chelsea midfielder Ramires has backed Andrey Santos to become a ‘key’ player for the club.

Santos has returned to Chelsea after an impressive loan spell at Strasbourg last term, in which the Brazilian scored 10 goals in 31 Ligue 1 appearances.

The 21-year-old made his senior debut for Brazil in June but his minutes have been limited during the opening weeks of the Premier League campaign.

Santos is yet to start a league game this season and has totalled just 48 minutes across three substitute appearances.

However, Ramires – who made 251 appearances for the West Londoners – believes Santos can develop into an important player for Chelsea in the near future. He urged the youngster to continue working hard in a bid to break into Enzo Maresca’s plans.

Speaking to Simon Phillips’ Substack, Ramires said: “Andrey Santos is a talented midfielder with great potential. I’ve seen his ability to control the game and contribute both defensively and offensively. It’s important for him to keep developing his skills and adapting to the demands of the Premier League.

“If he continues to work hard and learn from experienced players, I believe he can become a key asset for Chelsea.”
