Rangers need to stop wasting time and find a manager

Gambar artikel:Rangers need to stop wasting time and find a manager

The hunt for Rangers’ next manager is properly heating up—and the board knows they can’t afford to get this one wrong. With Barry Ferguson holding the fort, and doing a decent job under the circumstances, the fans are demanding clarity and direction from above. But instead of movement, all we’re seeing is silence—despite Barry making it clear he’s ready and willing.

Names are flying around like confetti—Gerrard, Dyche, even Marco Rose—and the media’s having a field day. But Rangers fans know better than to get giddy. We’ve seen how hype doesn’t win titles. The club needs a manager who knows the weight of this job and can handle it. That’s why there’s been some cautious backing for Dyche, but it’s also why many fans are watching Ferguson’s tenure with genuine interest. He’s not perfect, but the belief is clearly back in the squad.

Of course, the board’s dithering doesn’t help. We highlighted just this week how there are too many voices behind the scenes and not enough action. If the 49ers Enterprises group want to make their mark, the first thing they need to do is sort the dugout. The new manager needs a full pre-season, not a late June introduction and a scramble before Europe. And if they don’t act fast, we could see another summer of chaos.

Meanwhile, the press is stirring the pot with Steven Gerrard’s name back in circulation. According to TalkSPORT, Gerrard’s odds are shortening, and he’s apparently open to returning. But we’ve been down this road before. Nostalgia’s not a tactic, and sentimentality won’t stop Celtic.

Rangers must be ruthless here. Barry’s in place and showing potential—but either back him fully or bring in someone who commands total authority and has a plan from day one. The fans are watching. The players are waiting. And the longer this drags, the harder the job becomes for whoever takes it.

There’s no time for boardroom games. Pick the manager, give him the keys, and let him lead. Because if we’re still wondering who’s in charge by July, the season will already be slipping through our fingers.
