Rangers’ update on Nobel Mendy makes absolutely no sense

Rangers fans were today wondering why the supposedly complete transfer of Nobel Mendy has remained under wraps. Fresh doubt appears after Russell Martin confirmed he’s never even spoken to the Senegalese defender. This causes confusion over Rangers signing Nobel Mendy.

As Ibrox Noise reported, the talk of this signing had gone quiet, but over the past 24 hours various outlets have alleged the whole story is over as the Betis player signs.

Martin not only disputed that but also inferred the announcement would not happen. Rangers are preparing for Alloa, while reports in the Scottish Sun suggest the deal’s terms have been in place for some time.

It’s all a very strange situation, albeit Ibrox Noise have already gone on record as saying we don’t want this player at Rangers anyway.

He’s got six senior appearances for Betis, with just two in the league, and while his market value is allegedly £3M – Franco Baresi he isn’t.

He also has never played for his country at ANY level. At just 20, he is hardly the experience we require at the back.

The whole situation reeks of the absurdity that is Rangers these days, with signing repeated nobodies and low level fodder.

Back in the day it was Weir, Cuellar and Ehiogu, now even Connor Goldson feels like an upgrade.

We shudder to think what next pap our club is going to go for, and why.

And in the meantime, the transfer window continues to tick by with glaring issues still unresolved like confusion over Rangers signing Nobel Mendy.

We remain without a dependable left back and the midfield still lacks the steel fans have demanded for years.

The board seem intent on chasing projects and punts rather than addressing the core weaknesses that cost us silverware.

Every week without decisive action adds to the frustration and gives our rivals more of an advantage.

This circus over Mendy is just another chapter in a summer that feels completely rudderless.

We’ve seen it all before and we know exactly how it ends – with Rangers scrambling late and settling for mediocrity.

Unless something changes fast, this season will follow the same tired script we’re all sick of reading.
