Manchester United loanee Rasmus Hojlund has sustained a fresh injury, which occurred during Napoli’s meeting with Atalanta during the weekend.
Hojlund has enjoyed an uptick in form since leaving United and sealing a season-long loan move to Napoli during the summer window.
He enjoyed a fast start to life at Napoli, scoring on his debut against Fiorentina. Hojlund then embarked on a fantastic streah, which was interrupted by an injury that kept him sidelined for a few games.
So far this season, Hojlund has netted four goals and provided one assist in 11 appearances across Serie A and the Champions League.
Having just returned to action, he was slowly getting back up to speed. The Dane was named in the starting XI on Saturday as Napoli beat Atalanta 3-1. A David Neres double and a 45th-minute Noa Lang strike were all Napoli needed to sink Atalanta at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
Hojlund created one of the goals.
However, the United star didn’t complete the game as he was forced off with an injury.
With the hosts firmly in control, Hojlund was withdrawn in the 74th minute due to a suspected hamstring injury.
He retreated to the sidelines in visible discomfort. According to Football Italia, the positive news is that Hojlund may have left the action before the issue became a lot worse.
Napoli will examine the problem more closely to determine the full extent of the injury and how long Hojlund may be out for.
Antonio Conte now faces an anxious wait. Romelu Lukaku continues to recover from injury – a situation that prompted the reigning Premier League champions to move decisively for Hojlund as his replacement.
When Hojlund was substituted against Atalanta, Lorenzo Lucca came on in his place.
