Raspadori uninterested in Roma as Italy striker arrives for Atalanta medical | OneFootball

Giacomo Raspadori has begun his medical with Atalanta ahead of a €25m permanent move from Atletico Madrid, while Roma director Claudio Ranieri says the forward never wanted talks with the Giallorossi.

Roma, Lazio and Napoli were among the suitors, and Roma had agreed a loan with obligation to buy with Atletico. “We looked at several players, and when we realised he wasn’t interested, because he never wanted to speak with us, we backed off,” he told SportMediaset.

Asked if Raspadori chose Atalanta over Roma because La Dea are buying him outright rather than on loan, Ranieri replied: “I don’t know.”

The 25-year-old landed in Italy on Tuesday night to finalise the switch.

Atalanta are expected to reshape their attack this month, with Daniel Maldini likely to leave Bergamo and Ademola Lookman pursued by Galatasaray and Fenerbahce.
