Rayan has seen his price soar since leaving Vasco in January, with a CIES Football Observatory study valuing the 19-year-old at 100 million euros, the highest among Brazil’s 26 World Cup call-ups. So can Vasco still profit if he moves again?

Only via FIFA’s solidarity mechanism, which compensates training clubs. As he came through Vasco’s academy and was sold at 19, the mechanism would grant an estimated 3.0% of any future fee.

The contract gives Vasco no other entitlement on a subsequent transfer. Rayan moved to Bournemouth for 35 million euros, with the Rio club receiving about 24 million euros upfront because his economic rights were shared with family and agents.

There is no sell-on linked to any future profit, known locally as more-valia. English law prevents the selling club from retaining a percentage of a player in later deals.

He signed a five-and-a-half-year contract to mid 2031. It was Vasco’s record sale and the second-largest transfer in Bournemouth’s history.

A youth product, Rayan broke into Vasco’s first team in 2023. He was the club’s standout last year with 20 goals in 57 matches, driving the run to the Copa do Brasil final.
