Rayo Vallecano block access to Vallecas as Madrid authority files complaint | OneFootball

Rayo Vallecano blocked entry to the Vallecas stadium on Wednesday as emergency repairs were set to begin, leaving the club without a home ground. The Community of Madrid filed a complaint.

According to L'Équipe, the regional authority has lodged a complaint alleging the club, including its vice-president and legal affairs director, denied access to technical and operations staff.

Work was due to start at Vallecas at nine am with specialists in pitch maintenance, electricity, plumbing, air conditioning and ventilation on site. The plan was to begin renovations immediately.

The club learned on Monday that emergency works would be required, with fewer than three weeks until La Liga resumes. A solution is being sought, but the decision will not be reversed.

Issues identified at the venue include fire protection, electrical systems, hygiene and sanitation, and general maintenance.
