RB Bragantino aim to end poor run under ex-Corinthians boss

On the night of this Wednesday (5), Corinthians will head to Bragança Paulista to face Red Bull Bragantino, for the 32nd round of the Brasileirão. The match kicks off at 7 PM (Brasília time), at the Cícero de Souza Marques Stadium. The home team is experiencing a negative streak and is betting on the start of new work to recover.

After the dismissal of Fernando Seabra, Massa Bruta hired Vagner Mancini, a name known at Parque São Jorge for his work between 2020 and 2021 at Corinthians. He has only one game in charge of Bragantino, in which he was defeated by Bahia in the last round.

Besides the coach, two other names from the Bragantino squad are familiar to the Fiel Torcida: midfielder Gabriel and defender Pedro Henrique. Both were Brazilian champions with Timão, with the latter being a revelation from the club's youth categories. Both are expected to be starters.

On the other hand, Bragantino faces several absences. Matheus Fernandes (suspended), Eric Ramires (thigh injury), Eduardo (left ankle injury), Vinicinho (right ankle sprain), Guzmán Rodríguez (left knee anterior cruciate ligament injury), and Bruno Gonçalves (right Achilles tendon injury) will not play.

The phase of the São Paulo team is not good: they have suffered four consecutive defeats in the Brasileirão, which led to the dismissal of Fernando Seabra. After fighting for a spot in next year's Libertadores, the battle has turned into avoiding relegation, standing five points above the Z4.

Thus, in case of a Corinthians victory, the distance for Timão to secure a spot in the Libertadores could shorten even more. They are six points behind Botafogo, which is in sixth place with 48 points.
