RB Leipzig close to reuniting with goalkeeper as Gulácsi heads for exit | OneFootball

According to reports from Sky Germany and Fabrizio Romano, Leipzig are closing in on an agreement to sign Norwegian goalkeeper Ørjan Nyland as the replacement for the departing Gulácsi.

The 35-year-old is available on a free transfer after his contract with Sevilla expired earlier this summer. Nyland is expected to provide experienced cover for first-choice goalkeeper Maarten Vandevoordt. Meanwhile, Gulácsi is set to bring an end to his long spell with Die Roten Bullen by joining La Liga side Villarreal. Leipzig are expected to receive a fee of around €2 million, with the remaining formalities of the transfer due to be completed shortly.

A return to the Red Bull Arena would mark Nyland’s second spell at the club, having previously spent the 2022/23 season in Leipzig. During that stint, he made just two Bundesliga appearances before departing at the end of the campaign.
