After RB Leipzig rejected an initial offer of €80 million plus up to €20 million in add-ons, Liverpool are reportedly prepared to return with a second bid for the Côte d’Ivoire international.
According to Sport Bild, Leipzig have received signals that Liverpool are ready to raise their offer to €100 million plus €20 million – but even such a bid wouldn't be accepted by the Bundesliga club.
The report adds that, despite increasing pressure from Diomande’s agents to push for a move this summer, Leipzig’s hierarchy have an internal agreement to say no for as long as possible, while the 19-year-old is still at the World Cup and potentially increasing his market value further.
Alternatively, Diomande could sign a new contract with RB Leipzig running until 2030, with a significantly improved salary, and stay at the club for at another season.
Die Roten Bullen are reportedly prepared to stretch their wage structure to the limit if necessary, although their financial package would still fall well short of what European heavyweights such as Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid or Chelsea can offer.
