RB Leipzig are considering an extension for Yan Diomande, with Champions League qualification seen as pivotal. Sport Bild reports that the 19-year-old could be tied down for at least another season if Leipzig reach the competition, which would ease pressure to sell and give him a European stage.
One of the Bundesliga’s breakout talents, the winger has drawn interest from Liverpool, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.
The club’s stance has been to retain him rather than cash in immediately.
Under those circumstances, Diomande and his representatives would be open to committing to another season in Leipzig, in part out of gratitude after arriving as a relatively unknown from Leganés last summer.
The proposed extension would likely add one year, taking the deal to 2031, and bring a significant salary uplift plus a release clause.
Even so, if one of the world’s wealthiest clubs makes a serious approach with a lucrative offer this summer, Leipzig could find it hard to refuse. A future fee in excess of €100 million has previously been suggested for the highly rated teenager.
