RB Leipzig are one of several clubs showing an interest in signing Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Rocco Reitz (23), according to a report by Florian Plettenberg.
The Saxony club see him as a replacement for Kevin Kampl, who left the club earlier this month after eight-and-a-half years, while Xaver Schlager could leave on a free contract in the summer when his contract expires.
As such, Leipzig are pushing to sign Reitz, who is a ‘top target’ for the summer.
The 23-year-old has a reported €28m release clause, with Eintracht Frankfurt, Bayer Leverkusen and Brighton also monitoring the player’s situation.
Since making his Bundesliga debut in 2020 under Marco Rose, Reitz’s rise to the top has been drastic. Featuring in every Bundesliga game this season, the former German youth international has established himself as a key player for Die Fohlen.
A dynamic box-to-box midfielder, Reitz ranks in the 98th percentile for interceptions and blocks, ranking himself third in interceptions in the Bundesliga this season, while only four players have won more fouls (26) than Gladbach’s No. 27.
