RBL put four past SC Verl in pre-season friendly

The winning ways continued as RB Leipzig saw off SC Verl in a 4-0 victory at Cottaweg on Saturday, 1st August.

The match featured two 60-minute halves, allowing as many players as possible to gain valuable minutes in pre-season. The first half saw few chances on either side, with Lukas Klostermann managing to break the deadlock on the stroke of half-time (60+3'). The defender was able to latch on to a poor clearance from the Verl defence, slotting home at the back post.

Head coach Martín Demichelis sent out a brand-new line-up for the second half, which soon saw RBL double their advantage. After some fine passing play on the edge of the box, Ridle Baku was able to tuck the ball past the Verl goalkeeper for 2-0 (71'). Ezechiel Banzuzi added a third in the 74th minute after Verl failed to clear their lines, allowing the midfielder to regain possession and tuck the ball into the back of the net. Conrad Harder netted the fourth and final goal of the afternoon from the penalty spot, after having been taken down inside the box by a Verl defender (120').

The team will now travel to training camp in Saalfelden, Austria, where they will remain until 7th August.
