Vitor Roque’s future remains uncertain. The Barcelona striker, currently on loan at Real Betis, could leave the Seville-based club, bringing an end to his time in Spain as Palmeiras want to sign him this month.

The Brazilian club are pushing hard to sign the 19-year-old striker before the transfer window closes in the South American nation on February 28.

An offer worth €25 million for 80% of Roque’s rights has been sent to Barcelona already, with both parties agreeing on the terms.

However, the operation cannot go ahead without the approval of Real Betis, who have him on loan and will not be able to sign a replacement, given that the transfer window in Spain is closed.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of Real Betis’ fixture against Getafe, manager Manuel Pellegrini addressed Vitor Roque’s situation, saying that the forward will be a part of the squad while acknowledging the uncertainty around his future.

“He is on the list of those called up and is part of the squad. I cannot say what will happen with his future. The only thing I know about negotiations is from the press. We will see how the issue is resolved,” said Pellegrini, as quoted by Mundo Deportivo.

Palmeiras, for their part, are eager to close the deal as soon as possible and have set a 48-hour deadline for all parties involved to close the deal.

An agreement over personal terms has been reached with the player who is now willing to move back to Brazil while Barcelona are also ready to say goodbye to the 19-year-old.

Unless something drastic happens, it appears that Roque will bring down the curtains on his spell in Spain and move back to his homeland after struggling at Barcelona and Betis.
