MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup continues with Real CD España hosting CD Plaza Amador in the opening match of their Quarter Finals series on Wednesday at Estadio Francisco Morazán in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

The encounter presents the first meeting between the sides in their history.

Real CD España will make its debut in the Knockout Stage after finishing second in Group B with six points and a 2-0-2 record. Midfielder Jhow Benavídez registered four assists throughout the Group Stage and leads the 2025 edition of the CCAC in assists. Gustavo Souza is Real España’s leading scorer with three goals.

CD Plaza Amador made its CCAC debut by winning Group A with a perfect 4-0-0 record and 12 points. The club became the first debutant from Panama to win its group, and the second team in the tournament’s history to win all of its four Group Stage matches. Everardo Rose leads the team with four goals and is tied for second amongst the top scorers. Rose also contributed two assists in the Group Stage.

Historical Series

Real España and Plaza Amador will meet for the first time in their history. Both teams are also making their debut in the Quarterfinals of the Concacaf Central American Cup.

Real España has contested 37 two-legged series in international club tournaments, advancing 23 times (62%) and being eliminated 14 times (38%).

Plaza Amador has played 13 two-legged series in international club tournaments, advancing three times (vs Cobán Imperial in the 2004 Copa Interclubes and vs Portmore United & Walter Ferretti in the 2017 Scotiabank Concacaf League), while being eliminated 10 times.

Plaza Amador becomes Real España’s second Panamanian opponent

Real España will be facing a Panamanian club for the fifth time in international tournaments:

·       Once in the Concacaf Central American Cup (4-0-win vs San Miguelito in 2025)

·       Twice in the Scotiabank Concacaf League (1-0 loss and 1-1 draw vs Tauro in 2018)

·       Once in the Copa Interclubes (2-1-win vs Árabe Unido in 2000)

This will be Real España’s second-ever two-legged series against a Panamanian club in international play.

Plaza Amador facing a Honduran rival for the first time

Plaza Amador will meet a Honduran club for the first time in any international tournament.

They return to a two-legged series in international competition after falling to Santos de Guápiles of Costa Rica in the Round of 16 of the 2021 Scotiabank Concacaf League with a 3-0 aggregate score.
