Manuel Neuer produced the standout display as Bayern Munich won 2-1 at Real Madrid, while Alvaro Carreras suffered under constant pressure from Michael Olise.
According to L'Équipe, Andreï Lounine looked nervous on early corners, Dayot Upamecano spurned a huge chance with the keeper beaten in the 9th minute, and Carreras cleared off the line. Neuer then palmed away a fierce Vinicius Junior strike in the 18th minute, underlining his authority.
Joshua Kimmich ran midfield with calm choices. Thiago Pitarch’s loose back-pass in the 28th minute almost gifted a goal. After a quiet opening half-hour, Harry Kane teed up Serge Gnabry for the opener in the 41st minute.
Right after the break, Carreras lost possession and Kane struck with his first attempt in the 46th minute, giving Bayern a comfortable cushion.
Vinicius later broke clear but failed in a one-on-one with Neuer in the 61st minute. Jude Bellingham replaced Pitarch in the 62nd minute. Neuer was close to keeping out Kylian Mbappé’s 74th-minute effort.
Olise glided past Carreras throughout, delivered another Champions League assist, and with a touch more fortune might have scored himself.
For Madrid, Pitarch never got to grips with the pace. Lounine lacked assurance and failed to convince under the high ball.
