Real Madrid are going through summer rebuild right now, with the club expected to bring in at least two defenders in Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries.
While Konate is a routine, like-for-like replacement for David Alaba, Dumfries’ case is interesting. The Dutch right-back is supposedly joining at the request of Jose Mourinho, who is expected to shuffle things at the back.
This could include the exit of some of the existing stars, including Alvaro Carreras, who has not impressed Mourinho and as per Abraham P. Romero (h/t Madrid Zone), he is facing an uncertain future at the club.

Romero explains that Carreras’ status in the Real Madrid team could be in jeopardy if Real Madrid bring in a new left-back this summer.
The player himself has admitted he has struggled to keep up with expectations after returning to Valdebebas in 2025.
The former SL Benfica starlet has struggled with a lack of form and consistency, while injuries haven’t been kind either. He is, therefore, facing a delicate situation at the Bernabeu.

The journalist adds that Carreras enjoys a lot of ‘clout’ in the Premier League, which could be a potential destination if he does leave Real Madrid this summer.
Carreras was a former Manchester United player and the Red Devils even had the option to bring him back on a cut-price deal.
Liverpool and Arsenal are among the clubs who were credited with interest in Carreras in the past, prior to his move to Real Madrid.
The coming weeks, therefore, could be consequential for Carreras as he could potentially have an early end to his Real Madrid chapter.
