Real Madrid academy graduate’s return this summer is a ‘done deal’ | OneFootball

As of yesterday, Jose Mourinho has signed the paperwork naming him the next manager of Real Madrid, and all signs point to the announcement being made after Florentino Perez is re-elected as president.

The Portuguese manager, needless to say, has already begun the planning and preparation for his project in the Spanish capital, and he unsurprisingly has a say in the moves Los Blancos are pushing for this summer.

Nico Paz, on that front, is one player Mourinho is reportedly keen to work with and wants the club to bring back.

After all, the player has grown tremendously in two seasons at Como and it is widely seen as the right time for him to return home.

Earlier this week, there were reports that Paz prefers to stay one more season at Como and that he does not see a place for himself at Real Madrid yet. His future, thus, was suddenly uncertain once more.

Now, however, Diario AS confirms that Paz to Real Madrid is a done deal for all practical purposes and that there is an agreement and understanding between all parties involved. 

In fact, the deal is so close to completion that the club’s official announcement may come as soon as the elections are complete. His future will thus be settled before the FIFA World Cup.

As a product of their academy, Real Madrid had a strong hold on Paz’s future and ensured to maintain a buy-back clause for a couple of seasons.

The deal, thus, will be officially triggered by Real Madrid activating their €9 million buyback clause to the Serie A side and automatically sealing his return home.

Los Blancos struggled in midfield last season, especially in terms of lacking a controlling and creative presence.

There is hope that Paz can help fill that void next season although he will not be the only midfield signing for the club. Names like Joao Neves and Rodri are also on the radar.
