Wesley is undoubtedly one of the poster boys for Gian Piero Gasperini’s Roma side.
Even in the defeat against Juventus, the Brazilian winger was one of the few players to get a passing grade. His arrival from Flamengo had many a dislike.
Those same players, however, are now beginning to reconsider the qualities of the 2003-born player. He’s already scored three goals since his arrival in the capital.
Not even his Brazilian predecessors on the wings—Cafú and Maicon above all—performed better.
Today, Gasperini is pampering him, aware—perhaps—that he was the only real reinforcement from the summer transfer window.
The Brazilian continues to impress, and not just in Rome. Indeed, abroad have already set their sights on him.
Arriving in the summer from Flamengo, Wesley has integrated easily into the squad and, in just a few months, earned Gasperini’s full trust. His qualities have not gone unnoticed, especially in Spain.
According to a report by the English online newspaper TalkSport, the two major La Liga powers are considering him this summer.
Real Madrid and Barcelona are the talk of the town.
Convincing Roma to let him go in June, however, will not be easy, especially if the Brazilian’s excellent performances were to increase over the course of the season. The Giallorossi could ask for at least €40 million to let him go.
