In a recent print edition, Mundo Deportivo claimed that Real Madrid are big admirers of Manchester City midfielder Rodri this summer. It has been revealed that Los Blancos have set their sights on the Spanish midfield ace as they look to strengthen their squad this off-season.

Rodri’s Recent Injury Concerns At Man City

Rodri missed a lot of games for Man City last season due to injury but managed to put in a few impressive displays for them in the Premier League. The 29-year-old could only manage to play in eight matches for the Mancunian club in the previous campaign, earning one assist in various competitions.

The Spanish talent has been a great servant to Man City over the past few years. However, frequent injuries have derailed his progress recently. Hence, it makes sense for him to opt for a change of scenery in search of greener pastures this summer.

Rodri’s current contract at the Etihad Stadium will run out in the summer of 2027. Hence, it won’t be easy for Real Madrid to get a deal done for him on the cheap in this transfer period.

Should Real Madrid Boss Xabi Alonso Move In For Rodri?

Rodri loves a tackle and can make life difficult for the opposition at the centre of the park. He can scan the danger well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. Rodri can even chip in by scoring a few important goals for his team going forward.

The Spaniard doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when needed. He is a tidy passer of the ball as well but has to find a way to stay injury-free if he wants to get his career back on track.

We can expect Rodri to bring more bite and steel to Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso’s midfield department. He has what it takes to serve as a decent squad player at the Madrid club next season.

At 29, Rodri is still playing in his prime and could help Los Blancos challenge for some major trophies in the coming years. Therefore, Real Madrid would be wise to move in for the Spain international before the end of this transfer window.
