In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Real Madrid are eyeing a move for Red Bull Leipzig defender Castello Lukeba. It has been stated that Los Blancos are showing interest in acquiring the services of the French centre-back next year.
Lukeba has enjoyed a good run of form at the German club in this campaign so far as he has put in a string of solid performances for them on the defensive end of the field. The French talent has scored one goal and earned one assist in nine appearances for RB Leipzig this season across various competitions.
The 22-year-old has been a rock at the back and deserves credit for making ten tackles, 17 blocks, 15 interceptions and 47 clearances in the Bundesliga. He was even tidy with his ball distribution based on his pass success rate of 87.9% in the German top flight (stats via fbref.com).
His current contract at the German club will expire in the summer of 2029, which could make it difficult for Los Blancos to sign him on the cheap next year.

Lukeba is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and is a good passer of the ball as well.
Standing at 1.84m, the French talent can use his robust frame to win a few 50-50 aerial duels for his team. However, it remains to be seen whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga if Real Madrid manage to bring him on board next year.
We can expect Lukeba to bring more bite and steel to Los Blancos boss Xabi Alonso’s defence. He is more than capable of earning a regular starting spot at the Madrid club over the next few years.
At 22, Lukeba has the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. Therefore, Alonso would be wise to go all out to snap him up this January or at the end of this campaign. However, Real Madrid have to be patient with his progress before they can get the best out of Lukeba.
