Real Madrid have started the season in an emphatic fashion, winning all six of their matches in all competitions.
They are leading the table in La Liga, with five wins in five matches. They are also the only team to retain a hundred percent winning record so far.
While the attack has flourished thanks to Kylian Mbappe’s plaudits, much of the credit should be given to a rock-solid defence.
Under the leadership of Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid have appeared rigid at the back, with Dean Huijsen and Alvaro Carreras emerging as standout performers, with the latter even set for an immediate call-up to the national team.
As reported by Diario AS, Real Madrid have broken a ten-year-old record thanks to their recent win over Espanyol.
In five league matches so far, Real Madrid have conceded only two goals, which is their best start in a decade.
The last time the Real Madrid defence appeared so resolute at the start of the season was back in 2015/16 campaign.

During that season, Real Madrid had conceded just one goal in their opening five league matches. The team, back then, was led by Rafael Benitez.
Real Madrid used to have a power packed defensive setup as well, with Sergio Ramos and Pepe leading a core group that also involved Rafael Varane and Marcelo as well as Dani Carvajal.
Needless to say, a lot has changed since, with Real Madrid now relying on the services of youngster Dean Huijsen with Eder Militao and Antonio Rudiger being in a rotation role.
Real Madrid’s defence, though, will be tested in a big way as Los Blancos brace themselves for fixtures against Atletico Madrid and Villarreal.
Before the end of October, Real Madrid are also expected to play Juventus and Barcelona.
