Real Madrid dealt fresh blow before Espanyol | OneFootball

La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Friday received some altogether unwanted news on the personnel front.

This comes amid confirmation that the club’s final appeal to have Dean Huijsen’s red card overturned has been rejected.

The name of defender Huijsen has of course dominated the headlines across Spain over recent days.

As much comes after those behind the scenes at Real Madrid kicked into gear a campaign to have the 20-year-old’s recent red card overturned.

Huijsen was given his marching orders at Real Sociedad last weekend, for a highly-controversial ‘last-man’ challenge.

Adamant that a mistake had been made in the decision-making process, those behind the scenes at the Santiago Bernabéu therefore launched a pair of appeals.

As alluded to above, however, on Friday, these endeavours have been definitively turned down.

As confirmed by Real Madrid insider Arancha Rodríguez:

‘The appeal was rejected.’

Huijsen, as a result, is set to sit out Los Blancos’ La Liga meeting with Espanyol on Saturday afternoon.
