Dean Huijsen and Marc Cucurella were two players present at a promotional event hosted by RFEF to formalise a sponsorship agreement with ElPozo until 2030.
Speaking at the event, the Real Madrid defender talked about his current form, which has improved significantly after a rocky period.
He also talked about Real Madrid’s improving form as a team while notably defending Federico Valverde, who was sent off in the last game against Atletico Madrid.
First and foremost, Huijsen talked about his improving form, with reports suggesting that president Florentino Perez has been left mightily impressed by his performances.
But while talking about his form, the youngster also acknowledged that he was struggling earlier in the season, particularly with his consistency.

“I’m very proud to be here, it’s an honour to be here representing my country. I think I’ve had a period where I haven’t performed at the level that people know I’m capable of, and which I’m now reaching. We’re doing well as a team,” he said (h/t Mundo Deportivo).
The defender added that one of his goals is to become a first-team regular in the Spanish national team, especially with the FIFA World Cup just around the corner.
“That’s what I work for every day, to come here, which is an honour. The press has to talk about something, I don’t interfere with your work,” he said.
Finally, Huijsen offered his thoughts on Federico Valverde’s incident involving Alex Baena in the Madrid derby, arguing that the Uruguayan international did not deserve a red card.
“I still think the same thing, I think he stops the play and it should be a yellow. Obviously, he kicks him and it’s a foul, but it’s a yellow, and if you go to VAR to review it, you can clearly see that he catches him in the foot and not with his studs,” he concluded.
