Real Madrid are focusing their efforts on exits for the time being, having been left satisfied with the four signings they have already made. Dani Ceballos has already departed after he agreed a mutual contract terminated with the club, and in the coming weeks, more players will be leaving the Bernabeu – and one of them will almost certainly be Fran Garcia.
The arrival of Marc Cucurella means that Garcia has dropped to fourth in the left-back pecking order, and with four players fighting for only one position, it is guaranteed that one of them will depart. Alvaro Carreras had been mentioned amid interest from Chelsea, but the expectation is that both he and Ferland Mendy will stick around for at least one more season.
That means Garcia is the overwhelming favourite to leave, especially as he is attracting interest himself. Clubs in the Premier League are following him, while he could stay in Spain with Real Betis, who are also keen on his services. However, from the 26-year-old’s perspective, nothing has been decided by Real Madrid, who have not yet informed him whether he will be counted upon by new head coach Jose Mourinho.
While the speculation about his future rumbles on, Garcia has been preparing for the start of pre-season with Real Madrid, which is on the 13th of July. His idea is to be back at Valdebebas on that date, although there is every chance that movement towards a possible exit takes place prior to this, although nothing has advanced at this stage.
It does seem inevitable that Garcia leaves Real Madrid this summer. He has been a good servant since returning from Rayo Vallecano three years ago, but it makes sense to cash in on him now, when his value will be at its highest.
