The 2026 summer transfer window is yet to open, but Real Madrid have already completed four incoming transfers. The Merengues have completed overhauled their defensive line, as three of these four signings have been of defenders.
While certainly exciting for the fans, these new signings can prove to be bad news for some of the current player in the white team. This seemed to be particularly the case with two left-backs, i.e., Fran Garcia and Alvaro Carreras.
The former seems to be heading for an exit, as he has quite a high demand in the market after having ended the last season on a high-note, as a starter over Carreras. Real Betis are reportedly interested in him.
Meanwhile, the future of Carreras himself has been subject to a lot of uncertainty, despite him having joined the Merengue side only last year. The English powerhouse Chelsea was one of the sides reportedly interested in him.
However, according to a report from Diario AS, the Spaniard is not going to leave, as he is a part of Jose Mourinho’s plans for the next season. He would be competing with Marc Cucurella for the left-back spot, and this would not be a problem for the Portuguese manager as both of them have different playing styles, and are complementary to one another.
For now, having missed out on the World Cup, Alvaro Carreras has a clear objective in mind, being in his best physical shape for the start of the preseason training under the new coach. He is alternating rest with physical training during this break, so he can come up for the start of the preseason at Real Madrid in his best shape.
Hopefully, he would only thrive with the competition with Cucurella and under the new coach, and recover the form that he showed under Xabi Alonso in the first half of the last season.
