Eder Militão
Speaking to the press on Wednesday, Eder Militão made a startling revelation. The Brazilian defender considered hanging up his boots.
Although he has recently reclaimed his starting spot at the heart of Real Madrid's central defense, Eder Militão also made his return to the Brazilian national team during this international break. On this occasion, the defender admitted that he’s savoring his comeback all the more after seriously considering retirement, especially following his second major knee injury.
"After my second knee injury, a lot of things went through my mind. I thought about quitting football, because it's not easy, but thanks to the support of my wife, my daughter, and my teammates, I’m here today and playing well. (...) These were two tough years, with two very complicated injuries. Facing the second one, you approach it differently because you already know the process. It’s not easy to deal with. You have to stay close to your family, to God... It takes you away from your routine, from what you’re used to doing, from training. Suddenly, you find yourself at home, relying on someone else’s help, someone doing things for you. Thank God, I recovered from my injuries and made it back to the top level, which is never easy," he said at the press conference.
