In a recent report, The Sun stated that Real Madrid could face stiff competition for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton. It is believed that Los Blancos would have to rival Liverpool and Bayern Munich in the race to land the English talent this summer.

Wharton’s Impressive Run Of Form In The Premier League

Wharton has enjoyed a solid campaign at Selhurst Park as he has put in a string of impressive displays for the Eagles in the Premier League. The English midfield ace has featured in 25 matches for Crystal Palace this season, securing a couple of assists across various competitions.

The 21-year-old has proven himself to be a valuable contributor at the centre of the park and deserves credit for averaging 1.8 tackles, 0.9 interceptions, 1.3 clearances, 0.6 shots and 1.3 key passes per game in the Premier League. He has even been careful when distributing possession from midfield after completing 78.5% of his attempted passes in the English top tier (stats via whoscored).

Wharton is under contract at the London club until the summer of 2029. Thus, Los Blancos would have to make a big offer if they are serious about winning the race for his services.

Real Madrid Could Face Stiff Competition For Wharton: Is He Worth The Fight?

Wharton is a solid tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to secure the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when the opposition are on the offensive.

The English youngster has also got the vision to create some decent plays for his teammates in the opposition half. However, there are some concerns over whether he can maintain his good form in Spain if Real Madrid manage to get him on board this year.

We can expect Wharton to enhance the quality of the Madrid club’s midfield department. He has what it takes to serve as a good, rotational piece in Los Blancos’ squad in the coming seasons.

At 21, Wharton has the potential to be a future star in European football. Thus, he would be well worth the fight, so Real Madrid should focus on stepping up their efforts to land him this summer.
