The Brazilian has missed the last few matches due to tendonitis, leaving coach Alvaro Arbeloa with limited options in the offensive unit.

However, Rodrygo has been slowly making progress and could return to action soon, with Real Madrid recently confirming that he is back in training.

In an official statement, the club have confirmed Rodrygo has completed part training with the group, even sharing a photo of him running around in the training camp.

When will Rodrygo return?

According to El Chiringuito (h/t Madrid Xtra), Rodrygo is expected to return to the Real Madrid fold after their game against SL Benfica.

The Spanish giants will take on the Portuguese counterpart in the second leg at Santiago Bernabeu, with the home team looking for simply a draw in order to advance to the next round.

Although the exact timeframe of his return hasn’t been given, the attacker’s eventual return to the pitch could be just around the corner.

Should Real Madrid advance to the next round of the Champions League, for instance, it is likely that Rodrygo will be available to play the Round of 16 ties.

Rodrygo, for his part, is motivated to make an impact and is determined to return to the pitch as soon as possible.

How the Brazilian ends the season, after all, may have a bearing on his future at Real Madrid, especially considering that there will be renewed competition next season.

Real Madrid are already bringing back Nico Paz from Como, while Endrick is going to return after a successful loan spell at Lyon, making it all the more difficult for Rodrygo to gain regular minutes.
