Real Madrid have been handed a minor fitness concern during pre-season after Andriy Lunin missed training with the rest of the first-team squad due to muscle fatigue.
According to an update from Alvaro Esteban, the Ukrainian goalkeeper did not take part in Tuesday’s outdoor session at Real Madrid City in Valdebebas, instead completing individual work indoors as a precaution.
The latest Real Madrid news suggests the issue is not considered serious, with Lunin suffering only mild muscle strain as Jose Mourinho continues preparations for the new season.
The update comes at a time when the club are placing significant trust in the 27-year-old following recent concerns over Thibaut Courtois’ fitness.

The session began with gym work before the squad moved onto the training pitches, where Mourinho’s players focused on activation exercises, possession drills and tactical work.
Real Madrid described the session on the club’s official website.
“The players available to Mourinho began with work in the gym and later, on the pitch and together with a group of youth team players, they carried out activations.”
The club also outlined the remainder of the training programme.
“They continued with ball circulation, possession, and pressing drills, finishing on goal, and then played a match on a reduced-size pitch. Lunin trained indoors.”

The decision to keep the goalkeeper away from full training appears to have been purely precautionary as he manages mild muscle fatigue.
Real Madrid are scheduled to return to training tomorrow for another session at Valdebebas, whereFederico Valverde is expected to rejoin the squad after completing his post-World Cup break.
Although Lunin’s injury update has attracted attention, there is currently no indication that the goalkeeper faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
The timing is notable, however, given recent reports that Real Madrid have complete confidence in the Ukrainian international following Courtois’ injury.
Club officials view Lunin as one of the strongest backup goalkeepers in European football and believe his professionalism has allowed him to remain ready despite limited first-team opportunities.
