La Liga giants Real Madrid are no longer actively scouring the market for a new centre-forward.
That’s according to Diario AS, who attribute as much to the sudden emergence of youngster Gonzalo García.
Youngster Gonzalo has of course seen his name suddenly cast into the spotlight across Spain over the last couple of weeks.
This comes after a bout of illness on the part of Kylian Mbappé opened the door for the striker to step into a prominent role at the Club World Cup.
And to say that Gonzalo has since taken advantage of this opportunity would be putting it lightly.
All told, across three appearances at the tournament to date, the Blancos youth product has racked up three direct goal contributions.
And the significance of as much, it would appear, has not been lost on those in a position of power at Real Madrid.
As per a report from AS, in fact:
‘The decision is almost made. Madrid has spent months exploring the market in search of a number nine… and they had it in front of them. It was him, Gonzalo.’
