Real Madrid are already laying the groundwork for a significant summer rebuild, and one name has now emerged as a serious target for the club’s long-term project.

According to reports from Fichajes, the Spanish giants are closely monitoring Myles Lewis-Skelly, one of the brightest young talents currently developing at Arsenal.

At just 19 years of age, Lewis-Skelly has quickly built a reputation as one of the most technically gifted prospects.

His rise has not gone unnoticed in Madrid, where club president Florentino Perez remains committed to a recruitment model centred on securing elite young players before they fully explode onto the global stage.

Despite being tied to a long-term contract at Arsenal, Lewis-Skelly’s situation under Mikel Arteta has raised questions.

While highly rated internally, his recent lack of consistent minutes has created uncertainty about his short-term role in the squad.

Real Madrid see this as a potential opening, especially given their history of acting decisively when young talents appear unsettled.

A left-back dilemma at Real Madrid

The interest in Lewis-Skelly forms part of a broader defensive reshuffle planned for the summer.

This is because Real Madrid expect notable changes at left-back, with Ferland Mendy likely to leave at the end of the season.

At the same time, Fran Garcia is reportedly exploring options elsewhere in search of regular playing time after a frustrating campaign.

Those departures would leave Alvaro Carreras as the only specialist in the role, a scenario the club considers too risky across multiple competitions.

A strong option to have

This is where Lewis-Skelly’s profile becomes especially attractive.

Unlike a traditional full-back, the Arsenal youngster offers tactical flexibility, with the ability to operate both on the flank and in central midfield.

Madrid’s scouting department has followed his development for months, impressed by his composure on the ball, spatial awareness, and adaptability.

Notably, Lewis-Skelly is currently valued at around €60 million, a figure Real Madrid reportedly view as reasonable given his age, potential, and market trajectory.

Whether Arsenal are willing to negotiate remains uncertain, but Madrid’s interest shows their intent to stay ahead of the curve in the transfer market.
